Oloo revolutionizes remote meetings by fostering deeper collaboration and reducing the feeling of isolation often associated with prolonged telecommuting. Experience seamless video conferencing and elevate your online gatherings to the next level.

Initial Motives

As a remote designer, prolonged isolation can leave me feeling lonely due to the lack of face-to-face interaction with colleagues and opportunities for casual conversation in the break room.

And I wonder if there is a way for me to experience a stronger sense of presence and increase interaction opportunities with my colleagues while working remotely. 🍻

Persona&Findings

We interviewed 15 ambitious young professionals who are also currently working from home.

From interviews, along with other methods, I found out that many young people working from home have felt isolated, especially during the past three years of the pandemic.












Several interviewees reported being stuck inside their homes for more than two weeks and feeling frustrated after long virtual meetings.

Takeaway

Most of my respondents expressed a desire for increased interaction with colleagues and a greater sense of engagement during remote work, which most mainstream video conferencing software does not provide today.

We discussed and analyzed the functionality and difficulty of what we wanted to achieve in our minds and created this matric.

User Journey

User Testing 1.0


At first, we wanted to design a virtual space like Soma World to reduce the fatigue of telecommuting and increase interaction and immersion.

User Testing 2.0

However, after the first round of user testing, we received feedback that our interface was too fancy and lacked the feel of a video meeting platform.

I designed an online movie theatre to give people a chance to get together after work to watch movies or the World Cup, but after user testing, we received feedback that the UI didn't look like the same platform as the other interfaces

Final Designs

At long last, we've breathed life into the ultimate iteration!!

We validated our idea by showing the prototype to respondents and asking them to answer a questionnaire afterwards. We did this 3 times and received valuable feedback to improve our platform, for example, to improve the way we interact on our platform or to remove fancy gradient styles in our visuals. In the end, 90% of respondents found our service to be engaging and connected.

Throughout the project, I improved my UI design abilities by exploring mobile design guidelines and trends while practising user research and testing.


Initially, I had some pie-in-the-sky ideas in my head, adding unrealistic gamification features and flashy UI animations. However, after discussing with my team and user testing, I discovered numerous unforeseen issues.


Doing user testing was an invaluable experience, providing me with the opportunity to learn how to understand the user's mind and think from their perspective. Overall, this project was an incredible learning experience, and I look forward to using the knowledge I gained on future projects.
